DAY 1:
Arrival Nairobi + Afternoon Excursion
Arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in
the morning. Transfer to a city hotel. A morning to relax
and wear off jet lag but not without an introduction of
the Kenyan birds. After lunch we visit the Nairobi National
Park, which despite being only a few kilometers from the
city, is a home to big game. In its open grasslands scattered
with acacia trees we will see the first game like Gazelles,
Zebras, Giraffes and maybe some of the Cats. We also see
Ostrich, Secretary Bird, Crowned Crane, Vulture, Cattle
Egret, Great Egret, Tawny Eagle and a herd of Buffaloes
should provide Red-billed Oxpecker perched on their backs.
Black Kite, Marabou Stork, Pied Crow and African Palm
Swift are also available in the park. Overnight at the
city hotel in Nairobi.
DAY 2: Great Rift Valley - Lake
Naivasha Basin
After breakfast, depart by road to Lake Naivasha which
is highest of all the Rift Valley lakes. Enjoy bird-watching
along the way with brief stops at the Limuru Pod and the
View Point to have a panoramic view of the Rift Valley
Floor. Driving further along the Great Rift Valley we
come to Lake Naivasha. Even though this lake is on the
floor of the Valley, it is still situated at about 6,200
feet (1,890 metres) above sea level. Naivasha presents
a mystery - even though the lake has no apparent outflows,
its waters are fresh. Arrive at Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort
in time for lunch. Afternoon spend birding in the grounds
of our Resort. Dinner and overnight at Lake Naivasha Sopa
Resort.
DAY 3:Great
Rift Valley -
Lake Naivasha Basin
Early morning spend birding at the grounds of your hotel
and surrounding areas before breakfast then after breakfast
take a 2 hour boat trip for bird watching in the lake
looking for Goliath Heron and Giant Kingfisher among the
masses of other water birds. After lunch drive south-east
to HELLS GATE NATIONAL PARK well known for its colonies
of Rupell's Vultures and hordes of Mottled and Nyanza
Swifts and Lanners hunting the swifts along the cliffs.
With Luck we may see the Spooted Eagle Owl. Dinner and
overnight Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge.
DAY 4: Masai Mara Game Reserve
After an early breakfast, we leave for the Masai Mara
located further south into the Great Rift Valley. The
Valley floor in Kenya is studded with volcanoes and seven
lakes. These lakes fluctuate greatly in size according
to the quality of the rains during the monsoons each year,
sometimes drying up altogether. We arrive in time for
lunch at Keekorok Lodge located on the eastern edge of
the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This is the northern section
of the Serengeti Plain, which is home to the greatest
concentration of game animals in the world. On our afternoon
bird-watching drive in the Masai Mara we have a very good
chance of seeing all the major plains animals including
lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant, rhino, hyena, cheetah,
jackal, warthog and many species of antelope. This day
you can have an optional night drive. Dinner and overnight
at Keekorok Safari Lodge
DAY 5: Masai Mara Game Reserve
After breakfast, we continue to explore this miraculous
area on our morning game drives. This open grassland is
home to almost every species of East African wildlife
including lions, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, wildebeests,
gazelles, and zebras and at least 53 species of birds
of prey. This is one of the most spectacular sights in
the world. Enroute to the Western side of Masai Mara we
will visit a section of the Mara River where we hope to
see many hippos and arriving in time for lunch at Mara
Serena Lodge. Afternoon bird-watching walks within the
lodge's vicinity. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena
Safari Lodge.
DAY 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve
Early Morning Game drive. Return to the lodge for breakfast
then with picnic lunch depart for a full day of exciting
game drives and bird watching. Here we learn about and
see first hand the intricate web of dependency that binds
the different species of animals together. Each animal
has adapted to its own niche and to the other animals
that surround it. Here we see Nature at its most subtle
and, sometimes, most cruel as each animal struggles to
survive and reproduce. Dinner and overnight in Mara Serena
Safari Lodge.
DAY 7: Lake Victoria - Kisumu
& Surrounding Areas
This morning after breakfast, we will drive to Kisumu,
a city on the edge of Lake Victoria via some major birding
hot spots on the way with lunch en route. Later in the
evening, we will visit the famous Dunga Swamp (one of
the strong hold of rare Lake Victoria swamp species).
Dinner and overnight be at Kisumu Sunset Hotel.
DAY 8: Kakamega Rain Forest
Early morning breakfast and depart just after dawn with
picnic lunches and drive westwards through the scenic
western escarpment of the Great Rift Valley to western
Kenya region, arriving at kakamega forest in time for
lunch at Rondo Retreat Center towards the Uganda border
searching for Rock Pratincoles that normally reside on
some isolated boulders along the way. Also on the nearby
streamside bushes we look for Senegal Coucal, Yellow Fronted
Tinker bird Yellow Throated Leaf-love, Copper Sunbird,
Bar Breasted Fire finch Compact Weaver and many more other
species. Dinner and overnight at Rondo Retreat Center
DAY 9: Kakamega Rain Forest
Full day spend viewing birds at this once extensive woodland
forest. Afternoon visit the Kakamega Rain Forest to view
the rare Red Columbus monkeys and the elusive forest animals,
the abundant bird life like the beautiful Rose Turaco,
butterflies and much more. Dinner and overnight at Rondo
Retreat Center
Dinner and overnight at Rondo Retreat Center.
DAY 10: Lake Baringo Basin
Depart after breakfast and drive south-east into the Great
Rift Valley stopping for Black Headed Lapwings, Dark Chanting-Goshawk
and silver birds to arrive at Lake Baringo arriving in
time for lunch at Lake Baringo Country Club. Afternoon
spent on the grounds of the Hotel bird viewing. Dinner
and overnight at Lake Baringo Country Club.
DAY 11: Lake Baringo Basin
Breakfast at the Hotel. Morning free to view birds. Depart
after around 0900 drive to Lake Bogoria National Reserve
which is a short distance away arriving in time for lunch
at Lake Bogoria Hotel. Afternoon game and bird viewing.
Also visit the Hot Springs. Afterwards drive back to Lake
Baringo Country Club for Dinner and overnight
DAY 13: Lake Nakuru National
Park
Depart after breakfast in the lodge and drive south-west
on the floor of the world's greatest Valley viewing the
beautiful landscape to arrive at Lake Nakuru National
Park. Arrive in good time to do some birding before going
for lunch at Lion Hhill Lodge. Afternoon game and bird
viewing at Lake Nakuru national Park. Dinner and overnight
at Lion Hill Lodge. The park is also a Sanctuary for both
black and white rhinos, famous for millions of greater
and lesser flamingoes and other bird species such as Narina
Trogon. Red-throated Wryneck, Greater and scaly throated
Honey guides, Arrow Marked Babbler and African Fire finch.
This park is also a good area to see the leopard. Dinner
& overnight at Lion Hill Lodge
DAY 12: Lake Nakuru National
Park
Full day spend bird watching in this park looking for
black and white rhinos, millions of greater and lesser
flamingoes and other bird species such as Narina Trogon.
Lake Nakuru is famous for its flocks of over one million
Greater and Lesser Flamingoes. As well as seeing many
large game animals such as zebras, elephants and gazelles,
this is one of our best chances of seeing rhinos. These
highly endangered animals are the second largest land
animals in the world. Lake Nakuru National Park was the
first place in Kenya selected as a rhino reserve. Here
is one of the few places where we can see Rothschild's
giraffes. Red-throated Wryneck, Greater and scaly throated
Honey guides, Arrow Marked Babbler and African Fire finch.
This park is also a good area to see the leopard. Dinner
& overnight at Lion Hill Lodge
DAY 14: Mount Kenya & Central
Kenya Highlands
Depart after an early breakfast and drive Mount Kenya
region arriving at either Serena Mountain Lodge or Naromoru
River Lodge in time for lunch. The massive size of this
mountain and its gleaming and eroded snow-covered multiple
peaks means that Mount Kenya dominates the surrounding
countryside and even affects the local climate. This is
also the traditional homeland of the Kikuyu people, the
largest of Kenya's 40 recognized tribes. The Kikuyu believe
that their god, Ngai, lives on Mount Kenya and so they
build their homes with the doors facing towards the mountain,
to welcome their god in. Afternoon spend around the lodge
bird watching. Dinner and overnight at Naro Moru River
Lodge or Serena Mountain Lodge.
DAY 15: Mount Kenya & Central
Kenya Highlands
After breakfast and drive with picnic lunches to the moorland
habitat of Mount Kenya then ascend to above 10,000 feet
to view the Alpine Chats that are common at this altitude
and can be found around this area. We also look for Scarlet-tufted
Malachite Sunbird. In the late afternoon we drive back
to our hotel located at the foot of Kenya's highest mountain,
Mt. Kenya. Dinner and overnight at Naro Moru River Lodge
or Serena Mountain Lodge.
DAY 16: Amboseli National Reserve
Depart after breakfast and drive to Amboseli National
Park arriving in time for lunch in Nairobi at The Rangers
Restaurant. Afternoon proceed to the Amboseli National
Park, lying on the foothills of the most famous symbol
of Africa, Mt Kilimanjaro. Afternoon game drive en-route
to your lodge looking for species typical of this area
especially on the marshlands. Dinner and overnight at
Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge Or Oltukai Lodge.
DAY 17: Amboseli National Reserve
Full day spend bird watching in this park with Lunch &
Dinner Included. The snow- capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro
rising above a saucer of clouds dominates every aspect
of Amboseli. Amboseli was gazetted as a national park
in 1974; it covers only 392 square kilometers but despite
its small size and its fragile ecosystem it supports a
wide range of mammals, well over 50 of the larger species,
and birds with over 400 species. Overnight at Amboseli
Serena Safari Lodge or Oltukai Lodge
DAY 18: Tsavo National Park
An early breakfast we drive through Tsavo West National
Park to Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge arriving in time
for lunch at Kilaguni Serena Lodge. After checking in,
enjoy a late afternoon game drive with a visit Mzima Springs.

DAY 19: Tsavo National Park
Early Morning bird watching in Tsavo West. Departing with
a picnic lunch, we spend the day in search of the Savannah
Birds enroute to Voyager Ziwani Luxury Camp where we will
arrive late afternoon. By the way in some dry scrub close
to Ziwani Camp we'll should be lucky enough to see the
White-headed Mousebird, Scaly Chatterer and White-throated
Robin. Dinner and overnight at Voyager Ziwani Luxury Camp.
DAY
20: Tsavo National Park
After breakfast, proceed with our exploration of Tsavo,
Kenya's largest national park enjoying bustling colony
of African Golden Weavers and have a chance to look for
the Resident Giant Kingfishers before proceeding to Saltlick
Safari Lodge, famous for the large number of elephants
that visit its floodlit waterhole each night to arrive
for lunch. Afternoon spend bird watching in a remnant
patch of forest at the top of the Taita Hills. Dinner
and over night at Salt Lick Safari Lodge
DAY 21: Kenya Coast - Malindi
Turtle Bay
After an early breakfast, we depart with lunch boxes to
Malindi Town located on the northern coast of Mombasa.
Arrive at Turtle Bay Beach Resort is situated along the
famous Watamu. Over 450 Species have been recorded within
a radius of 25 Kilometres of Watamu and Turtle Bay Beach
Club is superbly located in a hotspot for East African
coastal birds. Evening of relaxation after the day's trip.

DAY 22 + DAY 23: Kenya Coast
- Malindi Turtle Bay
We spend 2 full days birding around the wonderful sites
covering a range of habitats from tidal mangroves and
East African dry forest, to dry bush. Along, we visit
the Arabuko-Sokoke Forest the largest Kenyan remnant of
East African coastal dry forest which consists of three
vegetation types each with its own assemblage of species.
"The Small Six" are the six Globally Threatened
birds which occur in the forest, The presence of these
six rare birds has resulted in the forest being ranked
by BirdLife International as one of the ten most important
forests in mainland Africa for bird conservation. These
Special Species: Sokoke Scops Owl - Africa's smallest
owl, confined to the Cynometra Thicket. All meals and
overnights at Turtle Bay Beach Club
DAY 24: Back To Nairobi + Depart
Morning spent birding at the grounds of hotel or having
some fun at the beach. After lunch, transfer to the to
Malindi Airport to catch a flight for an hour's flight
back to Nairobi. Arrive in time to connect with your onward
flight marking the end of our birding expedition!
