Many people travel to Uganda to
see the Mountain Gorillas that Uganda is famed for. Uganda
is the home to half of world's remaining population of
mountain gorillas. Popularly known as the 'Pearl of Africa',
Uganda's most famous attraction is the Bwindi 'Impenetrable'
Forest home to the elusive and treasured mountain Gorilla.
Half the total population of the world's gorillas live
in the Virunga Mountains in Uganda where the Zaire, Rwanda
and Burundi borders meet. The other half is found in the
Bwindi Forest in Uganda.
Amongst other Uganda attractions are the Murchison's Falls,
Queen Elizabeth and the world's largest freshwater lake
- Lake Victoria. The diverse cultures as well as the hospitable
people of Uganda are a major attraction to many. From
the moment you land at Entebbes modern and efficient
international airport, with its breathtaking equatorial
location on the forested shore of island-strewn Lake Victoria,
it is clear that Uganda is no ordinary safari destination.
There is more to see than one can imagine but the

| Uganda has a lot of
interesting attractions to see in many spots of the country.
Owing to a variety of habitats with abundant grass, Uganda
supports an incredible range of biodiversity including mountain
gorillas. In order to protect and effectively manage these
invaluable resources on a sustainable basis, the Uganda
National Parks department was established in 1952. Presently
the organisation manages 10 parks. |

| Uganda Location and
Climate |
 |
Often rated as Africa's
friendliest country, Uganda is a land of infinite variety.
For long, Uganda has been referred to as 'the Switzerland'
of Africa due to its sheer physical beauty. It is here you
will discover your ancestry as well as experience the wonders
of its diverse natural heritage. Uganda's national parks
reflect the extraordinary diversity of the country's natural
resources: fresh water lakes, swamps, mountains, forests,
woodland, rolling plains and grassland.
Uganda enjoys one of the best climates in the world. It
is sunny and green all year around with two distinct rainy
seasons stretching from March to May and September to November.
However, rain can occur anytime. The temperature average
27C with the highest being 31C in the Karamoja and Kasese
regions and lowest being 15C in kabale
Uganda lies astride the equator
and bordered by Kenya in the east, Tanzania and Rwanda
in the south, Democratic Republic of Congo in the west
and Sudan in the North. The only African country with high
altitude despite being right on Equator.Any question on

| Uganda Travel Tips
and Best Time To Visit |
 |
 |
|
Uganda can be
visited at any time, though mountain hikes, gorilla
tracking and other forest walks are more challenging
during the rains, which generally peak over mid-September
to November and March to May. Uganda is the home to
half of world's remaining population of mountain gorillas.
It is located in east-central Africa, situated north
and northwest of Lake |
Victoria. It is a landlocked country
bordered by Sudan on the North, Kenya on the east, Tanzania
on the South, Rwanda on the southwest and Zaire on the northwest.
Uganda has a pleasant climate year round with minor temperature
variations.
The altitude on a Uganda safari varies from 1,000 meters
to 2,400 meters above sea level. Days are pleasant, 75 to
85 degrees Fahrenheit and nights moderate, 50 to 60 degrees
Fahrenheit. At higher altitudes it can be cooler, especially
at Bwindi. The green season is usually from mid March to
mid May and again during November, in my opinion the best
times to go to Uganda. East Africa is 3 hours ahead of Greenwich
Mean Time.
A certificate of yellow fever vaccination is required. All
visitors should take malaria prophylactic drugs. It is advisable
to drink bottled rather than tap water. Entebbe International
Airport, which lies 40km from the capital Kampala, is serviced
by a number of international airlines, including SN Brussels,
British Airways, South African Airways, Kenya Airways, Air
Tanzania, Rwandair Express, Egypt Air and Ethiopian Airlines.
Uganda can also be reached overland from Kenya, Rwanda and
Tanzania. More>>> |
