Day 1
: Arrival Entebbe in Uganda
Arrive Entebbe, met at the airport by our representative
and transfer to the Windsor Lake Victoria for Safari briefing.
Check in relax , relieve from jet lag later meal plans
dinner and overnight.
Day 2 : Jane Goodall Chimpanzee
Sanctuary & Kibale National Park
Transfer to the Lake Victoria Shore for a speed boat to
Izinga Island for a visit to the Jane Goodall Ngamba Chimpanzee
Sanctuary. Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary Introduction:
Was established in October 1998 with the help of UWEC
( Uganda Wildlife Education Center) and other concerned
international organisations to care for orphaned confiscated
chimpanzees in Uganda. Situated 23km out from Entebbe
on Lake Victoria, this 100 acre beautifully forested island
provides a safe haven for these confiscated chimpanzees.
So far total number of chimpanzees being looked after
is 33. It offers a unique opportunity for close viewing
of chimpanzees in their natural environment. Pre- arranged
supplementary feeding times ( 11:00am & 3:00pm each
day) bring the chimpanzees to within metres of the raised
walkway specially designed for easy viewing and great
photographic opportunities.The goals of the sanctuary
are to provide a safe home for these chimpanzees, to care
for the environment on Ngamba Island, to provide a high
quality educational experience for visitors and importantly
to benefit local communities. Later return for lunch and
then proceed to Kibale National Park. Arriving in the
evening check in at the Ndali lodge. Refresh and stretch.
Meal plans dinner and overnight.
Day: 3 Kibale National Park
After morning Breakfast, head to the park headquarters
arrive at 8:00am. Get the introduction from the park warden
join the group and begin your adventure to meet our closest
relative the Chimpanzees Tracking will start
and last for 3-4 hrs along the trails you will come across
other primates like Black and white Colubus, Grey cheecked
Mangabeys, Bird life and Plant life is abundant here.
Get back to the Park Headquarters and proceed back to
Ndali lodge for Lunch. After lunch proceed to Queen Elizabeth
National Park arriving early evening check in at the Mweya
Safari Lodge. Refresh. Later meal plans dinner and overnight
at Mweya safari Lodge.
NOTES: Kibale National
Park is in Western Uganda, 35 km from Fort Portal town,
which is 360kms from Kampala via Mubende town. With lush
tropical rainforest and fascinating diversity of animals,
Kibale National Park is one of the most beautiful and
stunning forests in Uganda. Kibale Forest is certainly
worth protecting as it is home to the Largest number of
our closest living relatives with a 98.4% same DNA composition
like us.(The endangered Chimpanzees ). As well as the
Red colobus monkeys, and the rare LHoesti monkey.
The forest has one of the highest diversity and density
of primates totaling to 13 species including the Black
and white colobus monkey, Blue monkey and Grey cheeked
mangabey, red tailed monkey bush babies and pottos .
The park also hosts over 325 species of birds including
the yellow spotted nicator, yellow rumped tinker bird,
little greenbul, green breasted pitta, the African pitta,
the crowned eagle and the black bee eater. There are a
number of impressive mammals including; forest elephants,
buffaloes, bush pigs, duikers, and bats. A keen observer
may see some of the reptiles and amphibians as well as
a variety of colorful butterflies. Further more 250 species
of trees have been recorded. But the most famous inhabitants
are the Chimpanzees with over than 1,450 individuals are
protected with in the park. At Kanyancu , a community
of chimpanzees has been habituated since 1991, allowing
visitors the unique opportunity to view these great apes
in the natural environment with more than 99% chance of
viewing.
Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National
Park
Early in the morning game drive begins at 6:30am to be
in time to see the big cats in action. Game drive lasts
for 3-4 hrs get back for breakfast relax and lunch. At
2:45pm Head to the jetty and take the launch cruise on
the Kazinga channel which joins lake George to Lake Edward
the cruise will last for 2 hrs, get back by five and embark
on another game drive which will bring you back by 7:00pm.
Arrive at the lodge refresh and relax, Later meal plans
dinner and overnight at Mweya safari Lodge.
NOTES: The park
spreads over an area of 1978 sq kilometres in the western
arm of the Great East African Rift Valley 418 km from
the capital Kampala and takes approxmately 6 hours. Air
Charter services can be organised by Uganda Wildlife Scene
which land at Kasese Aero drome. The park is a home to
a variety of wildlife including elephants, lions, hippos,
buffaloes, Uganda kobs, baboons and birds all typical
riverrine savannah habitats and the famous Kazinga Channel.
In the Southern Parts is the Ishasha sector with the tree
climbing lions and the Maramagambo forest, one of the
largest surviving natural forests in Uganda. The Northern
part is traversed by the equator and is dominated by the
scenery of crater lakes with lots of flamingos. There
is a launch trip on the Kazinga channel which joins Lake
George to Lake Edward.
Day 5: Kyambura Gorge / Ishasha
/ Bwindi Forest
Early morning after breakfast pack and head to Kyambura
gorge yet in another search for our closest relatives
the Chimpanzees. Tracking time will depend on these elusive
chimps 2- 3hrs tracking. Get back and set to leave for
Bwindi Gorilla National Park through the Ishasha Sector
famous for the tree climbing lions, depending on the road
condition. Arriving at Bwindi Gorilla National park in
the evening check in at the Gorilla Resort Camp. Get the
briefing, unpack and relax. Dinner and over night
Day 6: Bwindi National Park
After an early breakfast, youll be guided to the
camp briefing point where you will meet the park warden.
After the briefing its off to you adventure to met these
thrilling Gentle Giants of Bwindi forest. Tracking can
be arduous and so we believe you are in a good healthy
and physical condition. We also advise you to carry a
rain jacket as it often rains here & wear a good pair
of hiking boots, a water proof cover for your cameras.
You will track the gorillas, time taken to track and find
them will depend on their movement. You will be allowed
to stay with them for 60 minutes according to the researchers
and habituation report given in order not to stress them.
You will have your packed lunch with you in a distance
of 200 300 metres you can sit down and eat. Later
get back to the camp and relieve those especial moments
with the group and have a small graduation. Dinner and
over night at The Gorilla Resort.
NOTES:
It is the richest forest in Uganda in terms of number
of plant species. Also home to half of the population
of the critically endangered mountain Gorillas in the
world. Gazetted in 1991 with an area of 331sq km, 514km
away from the capital Kampala covering parts of Rukungiri,
Kisoro and Kabale districts in south western Ugandan districts.
As the area is one of the few large expanses of forest
in East Africa where montane communities emerge. The valley
bottoms contain a dense ground cover of herbs, vines,
shrubs, with only a few trees hence it's name " The
Impenetrable Forest" This is one of the richest faunal
communities in East Africa. There exists half of the world's
population of the endangered mountain gorillas in Bwindi
forest. There are also several endangered species of birds
within limited ranges. Gorilla tracking begun on 1st April
1993. It is advisable to make your booking for gorilla
tracking +3 Months with us in advance before your intended
date of visit. Gorilla permits are sold on first come
first serve basis. It commonly rains in this area. So
come with a rain gear, a good pair of hiking boots, gloves
and elastic bandage in case of sprains.
Day 7: Kisoro / Virunga Volcanoes
After breakfast we shall leave this beautiful spot of
the world and drive to Kisoro overlooking the beautiful
Virunga Volcanoes through Kisoro town and a stop over
at the Travellers Hotel for lunch. Later proceed
to Rwanda and cross through the Cyanika border, check
in at the Gorilla Nest Rwanda for a free afternoon. Dinner
and overnight at Gorilla Nest Rwanda.
Day 8: Gorilla Tracking in Rwanda
- Virunga Volcanoes National Park
This day after breakfast you will proceed to the Rwanda
Gorilla office headquarters and get the briefing from
the guides, then its off to your adventure to meet these
thrilling gentle giants of Rwanda. The duration taken
is between 2-3 hrs, get back to the Park headquarters
for your certificate get back to the hotel and pack prepare
to leave for Uganda. Drive back to Kabale, check in at
the White Horse Inn for accommodation, meal plan dinner
and overnight.
Day 9 : Kabale / Mbarara / Lake
Mburo
After breakfast, transfer through Mbarara stop for lunch
at the Agip Motel, Later travel to Lake Mburo National
park. Arrive and check in at the Mantana Tented camp.
Refresh and stretch. In the evening take a boat trip on
the lake or go for a Game drive. Later return to the camp,
meal plan dinner and overnight at Mantana Tented Camp.
Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda's fourth National park
was gazzeted in 1982.The park covers an area surface of
256km sq and it is the only park to contain an entire
lake. It offers varied scenic beauty hills and valleys.
The park is 230 km by road from Kampala. The open corridor
of Mbarara- Masaka road leads you to this beautiful scenic
park you will stop at Kayobwe 72 kms from Kampala to physically
cross the Equator and take pictures. Zebra, Impala, Topis,
Wipsprings, Elands, Buffaloes, Hippos, Crocodiles, and
a variety of bird species. Dinner and overnight at Mantana
Tented Camp.
Day 11:
Lake Mburo - Entebbe + Depart
After an early morning game drive, we return to Entebbe.
We will arrive in time for lunch, with the afternoon at
leisure or optionally doing some last-minute shopping
in Kampala. If your flight departs this evening, you may
opt to take a day room to rest at Imperial Resort Beach
Hotel. Your tour leader will advise you on cost and options
available. Later, we transfer you to the Airport for your
onward arrangements. AfriChoice! airport representative
